The Charlotte Contemporary Ensemble is a predominantly African American Choral Ensemble formed in 1979. It sings music of all genres and styles while focusing on the music of African American Composers. Musicianship, quality of tone, diction, style and repertoire are at the essence of this quality ensemble.
Singers should prepare one composition (art song, aria, gospel, spiritual, Broadway tune, etc.) and be prepared to do vocal exercises.
Sight reading ability is essential but singers with good oral listening and learning skills are also encouraged. Experience in high school and college choirs is a plus.
